VCE BIOLOGY UNIT 2
"Dynamic Ecosystems in Victoria's Forests" is a 4.5 hour Biology Unit 2 targeted program. The complex and finely balanced biotic and abiotic relationships in three stunning forest ecosystems on Mount Donna Buang are studied and compared - the ancient Cool Temperate Rainforest, the summit's Montane forest and the Wet Sclerophyll forest of the lower slopes. Students work collaboratively collecting data sets from quadrats, transects and field observations, using dichotomous keys and specialised fieldwork equipment. They are provided with a comprehensive fieldwork booklet to record their findings. Teacher's are provided with an extensive pre and post-visit classroom ideas booklet to ensure students gain the most from their fieldwork experience.
VCE ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE UNIT 3 AREA OF STUDY 2

An endemic species, threatened by continued logging in its remaining range, Leadbeater's Possum is the subject of this indepth program. Students will investigate the life history of LBP's, threatening processes, current status, Action Plan, Recovery Plan, and the possibility of captive breeding. A visit to the habitat of LBP's includes assessing its suitability for populations.
